  • What is Estate Jewelry?

Estate jewelry is, by definition, any piece that is not new. Any piece of used jewelry, from a three-month-old engagement ring to hundred-year-old emerald pin, is considered estate. Once a piece of jewelry is purchased, it becomes an estate piece.

  • How much does B & B Diamonds pay for Estate jewelry?

It completely depends on the piece. We are interested in pieces of jewelry valued from $100 to $200,000 and higher.

  • I have an engagement ring which I bought for $4000. It has an appraisal for $6000. What can I expect to sell it for?

This depends on several factors, including how 'well' you purchased the piece and how long ago it was purchased. If you purchased it two weeks ago in a jewelry store for $4000, you will most likely not recover that full amount in selling it as an estate piece. The nature of our company is wholesale. In other words, we must buy the piece of jewelry from you at a price which enables us to sell it to a jeweler at a price which is attractive to them, but still yields a profit for us. Having said that, you might have purchased the piece 10 years ago for $4000, and in that case, you may actually receive an amount similar to the original price.

  • How are offers made?

Offers are made when you visit our office. You DO NOT need to accept an offer on the spot. We do not function in a "take it or leave it" manner at B & B Diamonds. If you wish to take our offer and get offers from other individuals or buyers, that is perfectly acceptable. Any offer will be given a span of time for which it is valid, usually around 5 days. We do this to ensure your comfort in the transaction.

  • Do you sell jewelry?

No, we do not sell jewelry to the public. We only buy.

  • What happens to my piece after I sell it to you?
Some pieces are sold intact. For other pieces we aquire, the jewels are pulled out and the metal is sold for scrap. Others still are altered in various manners to make them more attractive for resale. We work with estate dealers and jewelers all over the United States and Europe. We choose the best outlet for our merchandise and act accordingly.
